![]() ![]() One of the most important things when draining/refilling the cooling system is to have the heater control on max heat. Note: I did not replace the coolant temp sensor (ECT?) when I replaced the t-stat.īillofdurham wrote:Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site. I'm sure that I have not put in 7.6 (or even close) quarts of coolant.ĭo you have any ideas how or what to do to see if i have air bubbles in the system and how to get them out? At that point it only took a couple of cups more coolant. When the t-stat opened, there were a bunch of air bubbles that came into the expansion tank. I started it and let it warm up (with the coolant fill cap off) until the t-stat opened up. The spec says it will take 7.6 quarts of coolant but it only took 4 quarts or so. Then I sealed it up and slowly poured in 50/50 until it would not take any more. When i did the coolant flush I opened the system in various places and ran the hose through it to get out all coolant. ![]() I think there could be some air in the system. There are no signs of coolant leaks and I don't see/smell coolant in the exhaust. I didn't notice any oil in the coolant or any coolant in the oil. I've changed the oil replaced the t-stat and flushed the coolant system. This mainly happens on the highway around town the temp gauge tends to stay around the 3 o'clock position. I have a (new to me) 97 Volvo 850 GLT turbo wagon that is overheating. I appreciate any help you can give with my overheating problem. ![]()
